WFH To A Midlife Crisis And How I Cope With It

I had been working from home for over 5 years now. When I first started, it was not considered cool and people thought of those who worked from home as lazy, good-for-nothing individuals who spent all day playing video games. Even my own mother had that perception of me. But then the COVID-19 pandemic hit and everything changed. Suddenly, working from home became the norm and people were talking about how it was the future of work. But what they weren’t talking about was the price that came with it.

I quickly realized that the price of working from home for me was my social life. As the days turned into weeks and then into months, I found myself socializing less and less. I was isolated from my friends and family, and my only interactions were with my computer and the people I worked with online. It was a lonely existence.

I began to feel like I was in the middle of a mid-life crisis. I was stuck in a rut and couldn’t see a way out. I had lost touch with the things that made me happy and the people who mattered to me. My work had become my entire life, and I had nothing else to hold onto. This led me to experience burnout, feeling exhausted and overwhelmed, and could not even work properly now.I realized that I needed to take a step back and reassess my priorities. I needed to find a balance between my work and personal life, and that I needed to make sure that I was taking care of myself.I knew that something had to change. I couldn’t continue living like this. I needed to find a way to reconnect with the world and the people in it.

So when I could not figure out on my own I decide to get a professional help and consulted this with my therapist. She helped me understand that my feelings of isolation and loneliness were normal, given my circumstances. She also provided me with tools and strategies to help me reconnect with the world and the people in it.

One of her recommendations was to go on dates. I was not even looking for anything serious, but I really do want to meet new people and have good times. I downloaded a few dating apps and began to search. It helped me to few new people and give me some new experiences.
